How to turn a PDF into PNGs
Add your PDF
Drag it onto the box or choose it with the button. Each page appears as its own row – remove the ones you don't need.
Choose resolution and background
150 dpi suits screens, 300 dpi printing. Choose a transparent background to keep only what is drawn on the page, such as a logo or a signature.
Download
Save single pages, or all of them at once as a ZIP file named page by page (document-p01.png, document-p02.png …).
PDFs are rarely just pictures
The PDFs people turn into images are often contracts, invoices, plans or signed forms. Most online converters upload the whole document to their servers first. KeepPixels opens the PDF inside your browser and draws each page on your device – nothing is sent anywhere, and once the page has loaded it even works offline.
PNG or JPG for PDF pages?
A PDF describes text and drawings as shapes, not pixels, so it can be turned into an image at any resolution. KeepPixels draws each page with pdf.js, the PDF engine of Firefox, and saves the result as PNG – without the compression artefacts that JPG adds around letters and thin lines.
| PNG | JPG | |
|---|---|---|
| Text and lines | Perfectly sharp | Slightly blurred edges |
| Transparent background | Possible | No |
| File size | Larger | Much smaller |
| Best for | Documents, diagrams, logos | Photos, scans, size limits |
Tips
- Want a logo or signature from a PDF? Choose a transparent background and 300 dpi.
- For photo pages or upload limits, PDF to JPG gives much smaller files.
- Need the opposite? Turn PNG images into a PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Should I convert my PDF to PNG or to JPG?
PNG for pages with text, tables, diagrams or logos – it stores every pixel exactly, so edges stay crisp. JPG for pages that are mostly photos, or when the files need to be small.
Can the background be transparent?
Yes. Choose "Transparent" as the page background and only what is drawn on the page stays – text, lines, logos, signatures. Scanned pages are pictures of paper, so their background stays.
Why are the PNG files so big?
PNG is lossless, so a full page at 300 dpi can take a few megabytes. Choose 150 dpi for screens, or run the PNGs through the image compressor afterwards – the button appears when the pages are ready.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and every page is drawn by your own browser; no data from the document is sent to a server. You can check this in your browser's developer tools (Network tab).
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Every page shows up as its own row. Remove the pages you don't need, then download the rest one by one or as a ZIP file.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not directly. Open the PDF with its password, save a copy without protection and add that copy here.
Is it really free and unlimited?
Yes. No account, no daily limit and no page limit. Pages are drawn one at a time, so long documents work too – they just take longer.
