Open-source licences
KeepPixels is built with open-source software. We’re grateful to everyone who maintains it.
HEIC decoder: libheif and libde265 (LGPL-3.0)
To read HEIC photos, KeepPixels uses libheif and libde265, compiled to WebAssembly by the libheif-js project. They are licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3.
We distribute the decoder as a separate, unmodified file that your browser loads only when it’s needed, so you can inspect or replace it:
- Decoder file and where to get its source code
- GNU LGPL v3 licence text and the GNU GPL v3 it builds on
On Safari, KeepPixels uses the HEIC decoder built into your device where possible.
