Privacy policy

The short version – your images never leave your device and we can't identify you. Ads are shown by Google, which may use cookies – in Europe only with your consent.

Your images

All conversion and compression happens inside your web browser, on your own device. Your images are never uploaded to KeepPixels or to anyone else. We cannot see, store or analyse them. They exist only in your browser’s memory until you close the page, and in the files you choose to download.

What we measure

To understand which tools are used and what goes wrong, the site sends small anonymous counters. Each one contains only:

  • the type of event (page visit from another site, photo added, conversion finished, download, or the type of error);
  • the tool and the page language;
  • a rough category of the referring site (for example “search engine” or “AI assistant”), not the address;
  • rounded ranges such as “2–5 photos” or “1–5 MB” instead of exact numbers.

They never contain file names, image content, exact file sizes, your IP address or any identifier. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, we send nothing at all.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because no information is stored on or read from your device for these counters, they need no consent.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. To deliver pages and protect the site against attacks, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type. Vercel also counts page views for us without cookies (Vercel Web Analytics): a visit is recognised only by a hash of the request, which is discarded after 24 hours. We don’t store your IP address. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. See Vercel’s privacy policy.

Data stored on your device

If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your browser (local storage) so the site remembers it. This stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Google saves your answer to the consent message on your device and, if you agree, advertising cookies (see Advertising). You can delete all of this at any time by clearing your browser data.

Advertising

KeepPixels is free because it shows ads. They are delivered by Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) and Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (everywhere else). Ads load next to the converter, never inside it: they have no access to your images.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • For this, Google processes data such as your IP address, browser and device information and the pages you visit. Details are in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and in Google’s privacy policy.

Your choice. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent with a message on your first visit. Until you agree, advertising cookies stay switched off; if you decline, you may still see ads, but they are not based on your browsing. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the privacy settings link Google shows on the page. Wherever you are, you can turn off personalised ads in Google’s My Ad Center, and for other vendors at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Legal basis. Advertising cookies and personalised ads are used only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and the ePrivacy rules on storing information on your device). Google may transfer data to the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Since we don’t hold personal data that identifies you, there is usually nothing to hand over or delete – but you can always write to us.
