How to convert WEBP to JPG
Add your WEBP files
Drag them onto the box, pick them with the button or paste an image you copied from a web page.
Set the JPG quality
90 keeps the picture crisp at a sensible size. Lower it if you need smaller files.
Download
Save the JPGs one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
Your browser does the work
Every modern browser can already read WEBP, so KeepPixels simply asks yours to decode the image and save it again as JPG. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing waits in a queue – once the page has loaded, it even works without an internet connection.
Why images download as WEBP
WEBP is an image format created by Google in 2010. It produces files that are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, so websites, online shops and content delivery networks serve it to make pages load faster. Your browser displays it without complaint – the trouble only starts when you save the picture.
Where WEBP causes problems
- Older versions of image editors and the classic Windows Photo Viewer can’t open it.
- Many upload forms, marketplaces and print services still accept only JPG or PNG.
- Some messaging and email clients show WEBP attachments as unknown files.
What the conversion changes
The JPG has the same width and height as the WEBP and keeps its colours. Transparent areas become white, because JPG has no transparency. If the WEBP contains an animation, the first frame is used.
Tip for the future
Many sites send WEBP only to browsers that support it. Right-clicking an image and choosing “Open image in new tab” sometimes reveals a JPG or PNG version of the same picture – but when it doesn’t, this converter is the quickest way out.

Frequently asked questions
Is converting WEBP to JPG lossless?
No. JPG always compresses with some loss, although at quality 90 you won't normally see it. If you need every pixel exactly as it is, or want to keep transparency, convert WEBP to PNG instead.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent parts become white. Logos and stickers usually look better as PNG.
Can I convert animated WEBP files?
The JPG contains the first frame of the animation. JPG has no way to store motion.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. No image data leaves your device.
How many files can I convert at once?
As many as you like. There's no daily limit and no maximum number of files.
Is it OK to convert images I downloaded from a website?
Converting the file format is fine. Whether you may use the picture – on your own site, for example – depends on its copyright, which a format change doesn't affect.
