Resolution

150 dpi is sharp on any screen and keeps files small. Choose 300 dpi to print the pages or read small text.

90 is a good balance of sharpness and file size.

How to turn a PDF into JPGs

  1. Add your PDF

Drag it onto the box or choose it with the button. Each page appears as its own row – remove the ones you don't need.

  2. Choose the resolution

150 dpi is sharp on any screen and keeps files small. Pick 300 dpi to print the pages or keep small text readable.

  3. Download

Save single pages, or all of them at once as a ZIP file named page by page (document-p01.jpg, document-p02.jpg …).

PDFs are rarely just pictures

The PDFs people turn into images are often bank statements, contracts, tickets or medical letters. Most online converters upload the whole document to their servers first. KeepPixels opens the PDF inside your browser and draws each page on your device – nothing is sent anywhere, and once the page has loaded it even works offline.

How the pages are turned into images

KeepPixels uses pdf.js, the PDF engine built into Firefox, to draw each page exactly as a PDF viewer shows it – text, fonts, images and drawings – on a white background. The picture is then saved as a JPG at the resolution you choose: at 150 dpi an A4 or Letter page becomes roughly 1240 × 1754 pixels, at 300 dpi twice that in each direction.

When you need a PDF as images

  • An upload form accepts only JPG or PNG, but you have a PDF – a certificate, a payslip or a scanned ID.
  • You want to post or send a single page, for example a ticket or a page of a menu.
  • You need pages as pictures in a presentation, a document or a photo book.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and every page is drawn by your own browser; no data from the document is sent to a server. You can check this in your browser's developer tools (Network tab).

Which resolution should I choose?

150 dpi suits screens, emails and most upload forms. 300 dpi is right for printing or when the page has small print you need to read; the files are then about four times bigger. 72 dpi gives small previews.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Every page shows up as its own row. Remove the pages you don't need, then download the rest one by one or as a ZIP file.

Can I still select or copy the text?

No. A JPG is a picture of the page, so the text becomes pixels. Keep the PDF if you need to search or copy the text.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Not directly. Open the PDF with its password, save a copy without protection and add that copy here.

Are scripts or forms in the PDF run?

Filled-in form fields are drawn as they appear on the page, but scripts inside the PDF are never run. The document is only used to draw its pages.

Is there a page limit?

No. Pages are drawn one at a time, so long documents work too – they just take longer. Very large pages, such as posters, are drawn at a lower resolution if your device's memory requires it.
