How to convert HEIC to PNG
Add your HEIC files
Drag them onto the box, choose them with the button, or paste an image. Batches of any size are fine.
Decide on photo details
Location data is removed by default. You can keep all EXIF details or remove them completely.
Save your PNGs
Download each PNG separately or everything together as one ZIP file.
Converted on your device, not on a server
PNG files are big, and uploading big files to a stranger's server is slow and risky. KeepPixels skips that step entirely. Your browser decodes the HEIC photo and writes the PNG itself, so the pictures stay on your computer or phone from start to finish.
When PNG is the better choice
PNG and JPG solve different problems. JPG is built for small files: it throws away detail the eye barely notices. PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it is, which makes it the safer format whenever a picture will be edited, layered or saved again and again.
Choose PNG when you…
- edit photos in Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity or Canva and save them several times;
- need sharp edges and text, for example in screenshots or graphics made on an iPhone;
- want an archive copy that won’t degrade with every re-save;
- prepare images for designers or print shops that ask for lossless files.
Choose JPG when you…
- send photos by email or messenger;
- upload pictures to forms, marketplaces or social networks;
- want to save storage space.
Not sure? Most people who just want to open iPhone photos on Windows are better served by HEIC to JPG.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC file?
PNG compresses without losing any detail, which costs space. A photo that is 2 MB as HEIC can easily be 10–20 MB as PNG. If you just want to share or upload a photo, JPG is usually the better choice.
Is the PNG really lossless?
The PNG stores exactly the pixels that come out of the HEIC file, without adding any compression of its own. Because HEIC itself is compressed, the PNG can't be sharper than the original – but it won't lose anything more when you edit and save it again.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. No image data is sent to KeepPixels or anyone else.
Does the PNG keep the photo's orientation?
Yes. The rotation stored in the HEIC file is applied once, so the PNG is saved upright and looks the same in every program.
Are EXIF details kept in the PNG?
If you choose to keep them, they are written into the PNG's EXIF block. Many apps read it, but some image editors ignore EXIF in PNG files.
Can I convert lots of photos at once?
Yes. There's no limit on the number of files. With very large batches, photos are processed one after another so your device stays responsive.
